" The only reason we would consider such an action is that we have a new Amel on order for delivery in June 2007. Parting with Bel Ami is a bitter sweet process. On one hand the new Amel, named Rochelle, will be larger with some refinements. But she is still strictly Amel and like Bel Ami, she is tops in performance, convenience and ease of handling, with the distinctive "Amel look".
The belowdecks are appointed in rich varnished mahogany and arranged in
typical Amel fashion for simplicity and functionality. The galley is a cooks
dream. Large four burner range with oven and broiler, microwave oven,
refrigerator and separate dedicated dual frig or freezer[we use it for both]
are all part of a well appointed gourmet kitchen. Even a storage locker for
fresh veggies. All cabins are individually air-conditioned.
The Captain will appreciate the standup engine room with a logical and
convenient layout that allows easy servicing of the Volvo and AC generator,
water heater, water maker, filters and pumps. All mechanics have been cared
for compulsively by me since Bel Ami left the factory. The nav station is
completely appointed to guide Bel Ami through the world's oceans.
We would never consider parting with Bel Ami if it weren't for the final fling
syndrome that has occured in me. Rochelle will be my last boat for sure
and saying goodbye to
Bel Ami indeed will be a bitter-sweet experience."
